Alaska Business Entity Search

In Alaska, corporation and business entity records are kept by the state’s Division of Corporations, Business and Professional Licensing, not by a Secretary of State. It offers three separate searches: Entities, Officials and Agents. A CAPTCHA stopped our test search, so this guide covers the forms and the division’s own documentation, not result screens.

Search methods offered

  • Entities searchEntity Number, or a full or partial Entity Name with Starts With or Contains, plus a Current Only checkbox.
  • Officials searchEntity Number, Official’s Last or Entity Name, and First Name, each with Starts With or Contains, plus Current Only.
  • Agents searchThe same fields as Officials, for a registered agent: Entity Number, Agent’s Last or Entity Name, First Name, and Current Only.

How to search

  1. Open the Alaska Entities search using the button above.
  2. Enter an Entity Number if you know it, or a full or partial Entity Name.
  3. For a name search, choose Starts With or Contains (Contains was selected when we opened the form). Tick Current Only if you want that filter. We don’t know how it treats particular entity statuses.
  4. Select Search. Reset clears the form.
  5. If a CAPTCHA appears, complete it yourself in the state’s normal interface.
  6. After the results load, follow the record links. The division’s copy instructions say the Entity Detail page lists Filed Documents, with “Click to View” where an online copy is available. We couldn’t confirm the result-selection control.
  7. To search for a person or a registered agent, go back to the hub and open Officials or Agents.

What you can expect to find

  • We did not see any results or an entity detail page, so this guide does not list status, address, formation date or agent fields.
  • The division’s documentation says the database can be searched by entity name, entity number, officer name or registered agent, and that the Entity Detail page lists Filed Documents.
  • Corporate records, business licenses, professional licenses and trademarks have separate navigation entries, and an entity record is not proof of an active business or professional license.

Limitations, fees and notices

  • The form loaded without a login or payment prompt, but a CAPTCHA dialog interrupted the test search, so we haven’t confirmed a complete lookup.
  • The division’s documentation says most documents on record can be viewed and printed online at no charge. Documents not available online need a copy request.
  • Paid items are separate from searching. A Certificate of Compliance, also called a Certificate of Good Standing, is $10 and nonrefundable. Hardcopies are $10 per document, or $30 for an entity’s entire file up to 50 pages plus $1 for each additional page, and a certified copy adds $5. Filing fees are separate and vary.
  • The division’s Corporations page says myAlaska is required for online payment of corporation and business licensing filings. That does not mean a public lookup needs myAlaska.
  • We found no separate name availability inquiry or fee. A match, or no match, is not an official name approval.
  • We did not verify search limits, wildcard behavior or an exact-name mode.

Research for this guide used the official Alaska sites in a web browser. The Entities, Officials and Agents forms were inspected, but a CAPTCHA stopped the test search, so no results or records were reviewed.
