Arkansas Business Entity Search

The Arkansas Secretary of State’s Business & Commercial Services Division provides a corporation search that covers corporations, cooperatives, banks, insurance companies and other filing types. Searching and opening a business profile were free and needed no login in our review.

Search methods offered

  • Enter Either NameA name text field.
  • OR Fictitious NameA separate text field.
  • Registered Agent (RA), RA City and RA StateThree fields. RA State is a dropdown that defaults to Any State.
  • Filing #
  • Corporation TypeA dropdown, default All Types, with about 35 categories from domestic and foreign corporations, LLCs, partnerships and cooperatives to banks, insurance companies, name reservations and registrations, series LLCs and video service providers.

How to search

  1. Open the Arkansas corporation search using the button above. The form needs at least one search term, and not every field is required.
  2. Enter the business name in Enter Either Name, or use Fictitious Name or Filing # if that is what you know.
  3. Leave Corporation Type at All Types for a broad search. Use the agent name, city and state fields to narrow an agent-based search.
  4. Select Search.
  5. Review Name, City, State and Status in the results, then select a business name to open its Corporation Details window.
  6. Read the details, or use Print Details. Go back to the search form to change your criteria.

What you can expect to find

  • Results show Name, City, State and Status, with Printer Friendly Version and Download CSV controls. A search for a large company returned nine rows. The City and State columns weren’t shown to be the principal office: one row listed Little Rock while the principal address was in Bentonville.
  • The details window showed the corporation name, fictitious names, filing number, filing type, governing act, status, principal address, registered agent and address, date filed, officers and their roles, foreign address and state of origin. A Foreign Name label was blank in our sample. Don’t treat the listed officers as the company’s complete ownership.
  • The details window links to a good-standing certificate purchase and franchise tax payment. We saw no list of annual reports or filing images in it, so don’t expect a combined filing history here.
  • Noncurrent and expired entries appear alongside current ones, which shows some historical coverage but not that it is complete.
  • We saw no officer-name search, date range, status filter or name-matching option, and we couldn’t establish how name text is matched.

Limitations, fees and notices

  • Searching and viewing a profile are free. Services are separate. The state’s records-request instructions list copies at $0.50 per page plus $5 for certification, a $2.50 minimum for mailed or credit card requests, certificates at $25 (certificates of existence at $15), a $3 processing fee for online good-standing purchases, and an additional 4% card fee with a $1 minimum. That is published guidance, not a tested checkout total. Filings and franchise taxes are separate too.
  • Businesses that aren’t required to file with the Secretary of State may have county records instead, so no result doesn’t prove a business doesn’t exist.
  • The FAQ says a searched name is not guaranteed until the division file-marks the forms. We found no fee for a binding name availability inquiry.
  • The records request form offers corporate files and redacted franchise tax records through a request.
  • We did not verify the historical start date, update frequency or any result cap.

Research for this guide used the official Arkansas sites in a web browser. A name search and one corporation profile were tested; no certificate or record was ordered.
