Nebraska Business Entity Search

The Nebraska Secretary of State’s official guidance says its corporate and business search is free. The search form has five ways to search and requires a reCAPTCHA before it will run. Because that stopped our test, this guide covers the form and the state’s own descriptions, not result screens.

What you can expect to find

  • Official guidance says the database covers registered entities, trade names, trademarks and service marks, and gives status information.
  • We did not see a results list or a record, so this guide does not list result columns or record fields such as agent, address, formation date or filing number.
  • We saw no registered agent, address, entity type or date filter on the public form.

Limitations, fees and notices

  • The agency states that basic public search is free. The form can be opened without signing in, and a separate Nebraska.gov subscriber login is offered. We could not complete a search to test it, because of the CAPTCHA.
  • Certificates of Good Standing and images of filed documents may be available for purchase, including by credit card. We did not confirm those prices. The agency also lists a special-request service for batch records at $15 per 1,000 records, which is separate from the public search.
  • A database status check is separate from ordering a Certificate of Good Standing. The agency also offers certificate validation using the Verification ID.
  • A name availability inquiry must be submitted in writing by email, fax or mail. The agency describes its written response as a complimentary courtesy and says it does not guarantee acceptance. Final approval comes when a filing is submitted and reviewed.
  • A name reservation is a separate written application with a fee and lasts 120 days once approved. We did not confirm the fee.
  • Nebraska announced a new Online Business Filing System for December 7, 2026. The agency says it will require an account and add features such as name checks and easier registered agent searches. Those are statements about the future system. The current form, access and CAPTCHA behavior may change after that date.

Research for this guide used the official Nebraska sites in a web browser. The search form was inspected, but a required reCAPTCHA stopped the test search, so no results or records were reviewed.
